Protecting your circuits, 100 amps at a time.
A fuse rating is defined as the current needed to blow the fuse, so 100 amp fuses can then withstand 100 amp currents before they blow. 100 amp fuses are mostly classified as RK5 fuses, making them some of the most popular used today. 100 amp Class RK5 fuses are best suited for AC power distribution, especially electrical motor loads and transformer loads, as well as lighting and heating circuits. 100 amp fuses are also available in as Class H and Class K, and can be either current-limiting or non-current limiting.
Time delaying and space saving.
In most cases, 100 amp fuses are dual element, time delay fuses. The short circuit mechanism in a time delay fuse depends on the time is takes for the heat from the overload to melt the element. There are many advantages of 100 amp fuses that are dual element and time delay. For one, 100 amp time delay fuses and 100 amp fuse blocks take up less space since they are smaller in size, and consequently tend to be less expensive. They also offer a more effective short circuit mechanism, and in some cases they have been shown to reduce the occurrence of arc flashes.
