Double throw switches are available in double, triple, and four-pole models, all of which can be used as service equipment. These industrial switches are capable of switching, isolating and interrupting very large electrical loads. For safety purposes, they’re also outfitted with a large visible blade, and two open positions. The on position can be either up or down, with the off position being in the middle of the two.
It’s also important to note that double throw switches are manual switches, and must be switched on and off by an operator, unlike automatic generator switches, for example.
