Most commonly used in medium voltage systems (1kV-75kV), metal clad switchgear, not to be confused with metal enclosed switchgear, uses air circuit breakers and relays for power distribution and circuit protection. On the other hand, metal enclosed switchgear, which also qualifies as MV switchgear, uses fuses and switches.
Metal clad switchgear is used across a variety of switchgear applications, including commercial and industrial, and can be used both indoors and outdoors with the proper enclosures.
