What is a lighting contactor?
Used across large-scale industrial and commercial applications, lighting contactors are used to control lighting systems. They are used in situations where the power supply is frequently and repeatedly turned off and on. Lighting contactors are used to switch power in high current circuits, and can have a single or multiple points of contact. Designed to handle and switch large lighting loads, lighting contactors are designed to be extremely durable and should easily last you a few years before you'll need to replace it.
The different types of lighting contactors.
While lighting contactors are used across all types of systems, not all lighting systems use the same type of lighting contactor. Mechanically held contactors, electrically held contactors, and definite purpose contactors for lighting systems are all effective options with their own set of advantages. Electrically held contactors rely on a constant connection to remain connected to the circuit and keep the contacts closed, while mechanically held contactors can de-energize and be removed from the voltage. Mechanically held contactors tend to be quieter and use less power. Definite purpose contactors for lighting systems can be controlled either manually or automatically, and are typically used in lower demand, low-cost applications.
Both single pole and multi-pole contactors for lighting systems are available. Choose from 2 pole contactors as well as 3-pole, 4-pole, 6-pole and 8 pole lighting contactors.
