Single pole. Multiple applications.
Single pole push button switches or single position switches are used to control heavy equipment across a number of industries that rely on heavy equipment. Single position push button switches are switches that can only be in one position at any given time. They can be either momentary or maintained push buttons switches, though most single pole push buttons are momentary. Single pole push button switches can be either single throw or double throw, meaning they can control one or two circuits, and can have either two or three terminals.
Types of single pole push button switches.
Single pole push button switches are some of the most common and use a relatively simple mechanism. These switches can be either SPST momentary push button switches, or SPDT momentary push button switches. SPST push button switches, or single pole single throw, are a common ON/OFF push button switch. They only have a single set of contacts (or two terminals), and one position in which the circuit is connected. SPDT push button switches on the other hand have a single set of contacts but 2 positions which can keep the circuit connected in both positions. For example, one position can move a conveyor belt one way, while the other can move it in reverse.
