Siemens and ITE Circuit Breakers

Siemens circuit breakers are widely used across commercial, industrial, and residential electrical systems and are known for their reliability, broad compatibility, and long product lifecycle support. Contractors frequently encounter Siemens breakers in panelboards and switchboards used in office buildings, schools, manufacturing facilities, and data centers. Popular product lines include Sentron molded case circuit breakers, ED, FD, JD, and LD frame breakers, and VL insulated case circuit breakers, along with residential Type QP, QT, and QAF breakers commonly installed in Siemens load centers.

In industrial applications, Siemens breakers are often paired with Siemens switchgear, motor control centers, and distribution equipment, making them a familiar and trusted choice for engineers and electrical contractors. Many legacy Siemens installations also utilize earlier ITE-derived product lines that remain in service today, which means replacement and compatibility are critical considerations during maintenance or retrofit work.

ITE circuit breakers were widely installed throughout North America for much of the twentieth century and remain common in older electrical systems today. Originally manufactured by ITE Imperial Corporation, these breakers were frequently used in commercial buildings, industrial facilities, and residential panelboards. Over time, ITE became part of Siemens, and many Siemens breaker designs evolved from the original ITE product lines.

Because of this transition, many modern Siemens breakers are compatible replacements for older ITE equipment. However, certain legacy ITE breakers are no longer produced, and many existing installations still rely on original components that have been in service for decades.
